Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

Ask Jabu!

How many children can take part in a workshop?

In drumming only 30 children can part-take. 60 children can take part in dancing and singing.

What will the children learn?

The best way to learn is through FUN! Everything we teach is linked to the curriculum; Citizenship, History, Geography, Language, Numeracy, Art and Music.

What age groups do we work with?

Everyone can take part! Primary (Key Stage 1 and 2), Secondary (Key Stage 3 and 4), Tertiary and anyone with enthusiasm!

How long will the workshop take?

We run with the flow! We work with the school schedule. But we do advise that less time is spent on Key Stage One and more the other Stages.

How many artists will be at hand?

Two or more highly qualified and experienced musical teachers will assist the children.

How much do we charge?

Yes, the dreaded money bit! Don't run! We are flexible AND we do have discounts for Early-bird bookings in January, February and March. Our rates vary according to which activities are done on the day and the number of days we are booked for.

Which is the ideal place to work from?

We prefer to work in the Hall because the children need ample space to to play drums and release energy! It also makes lugging cumbersome drums easier! We can also use a large Music room that can seat 30 drum-carrying children in a semi-circle.

What time will you get our school?

Before the first scheduled session. We are reputed for our punctuality

How long do we take to set-up?

We will be ready in 30 minutes.

How many drums will we bring?

30 - one drum for each child.

What should the children bring for practise?

Buckets of energy and enthusiasm!

How should the children dress?

The PE kit is ideal! They will have to kick off their shoes for some explosive dance! But we do advise that they wear shoes when drumming for Health and Safety reasons.

Do we need to prepare anything advance?

Yes! We encourage teachers to have lessons on Africa and thus prepare the children for our workshops. It can be art, geography or history.

Who will perform at the end of the Workshop?

Only classes that have practised for over 45 minutes.

How many performances will take place?

Only 2 classes can perform, this gives World Music Makers time to perform professionally to the rest of the school!

Who can attend the performance?

Everyone can come! Children. Teachers. Parents. Board of Governors. The paparazzi - the full Monty!

Can we take pictures or video-footage during the performance?

Yes, you can take still photos! The press is welcome too! But video-footage is an absolute no-no!

How will we be billed?

Our accounts office will send a bill prior to the workshop. Payment is expected on the day.

How do we book your group?

Nice and simple - Use our Online Booking Form. You can also book us via phone or by email. Once we all agree on a date, expect a confirmation email.

Are the artists CRB-checked?

Yes, as stipulated by the law.
